Installation of a Plastic Sorting Plant with Optical Readers
Waste ManagementThis project involved designing, coordinating and implementing an industrial plant for the automated separation of plastic waste by material type and colour. The plant incorporated optical sorting technologies to increase the efficiency of the recovery process.
Our scope included selecting and coordinating specialist contractors, managing the budget comprehensively, supervising project execution and commissioning the plant. This ensured that all systems operated in accordance with the established design and performance criteria.
The engineering work involved developing the necessary calculations and designs for the medium- and low-voltage electrical installations, as well as engineering the pneumatic system that supplies a uniform and stable airflow to each of the optical sorting units. The engineering and construction of the structural platform was also carried out, along with the sizing, manufacture and installation of the bucket elevators for material transport and the comprehensive refurbishment of the industrial building to house the new processing line.
The result was a fully integrated facility designed to operate safely, efficiently and reliably, optimising the sorting of recyclable materials and paving the way for high-performance industrial operations.
