UMWELTOS EPCM

Environmental Infrastructure Project Management

Umweltos is an independent project management and engineering partner specialising in environmental infrastructure. We support our clients throughout the development and delivery of complex water, waste and energy projects, coordinating the specialists, technologies, contractors and commercial interests needed to turn each project into a reality.

We do not sell equipment or carry out construction work. We provide independent technical and project oversight to empower our clients to make sound decisions, manage project risk and maintain visibility over scope, cost, schedule, quality and performance.

Core Services

Our services are structured as complementary modules that can be used individually or combined to form an integrated project delivery approach. Each service addresses a critical stage of the infrastructure lifecycle, from project development and engineering management to procurement, project controls, construction management, commissioning and optimisation.

Project Development

We transform environmental infrastructure needs into clearly defined, investable projects. To establish a practical project basis before major capital is committed, we evaluate technical alternatives, capacity requirements, site constraints, regulatory considerations, CAPEX, OPEX, implementation schedules, risks and procurement strategies.

Engineering Management

We coordinate multidisciplinary engineering from the initial concept to the final design. Umweltos oversees the collaboration between various specialist disciplines, including process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and environmental engineering, to ensure that designs align with the project's technical requirements, budget, schedule, constructability and regulatory obligations.

Procurement

We structure and manage the competitive procurement of equipment, technology packages, engineering services and construction projects. We evaluate technical and commercial proposals against defined project requirements, lifecycle economics, delivery schedules, performance guarantees and contractual risk. This helps our clients to select the solution that best serves their project, rather than simply opting for the lowest initial price.

Project Controls

We implement systems to ensure that capital projects are predictable and under control. We continuously monitor scope, schedule, cost, procurement, engineering progress, changes, risks, commitments and cash flow against approved baselines. This provides management with an objective view of project status and forecast outcomes.

Construction Management

We represent the client's interests during the implementation process, coordinating third-party contractors, suppliers and specialists. We oversee construction progress, quality, health and safety (HSE), technical interfaces, inspections, changes, documentation and payment verification. This ensures that field execution is aligned with the approved design, schedule and commercial commitments.

Commissioning

We coordinate the transition from construction to operational readiness. This involves pre-commissioning, system testing, equipment verification, managing the punch list, ensuring operator readiness, conducting performance tests, creating documentation and completing the final handover. Our goal is to ensure not only that construction is completed, but also that the asset performs as intended.

Optimization

Following commissioning, we assist our clients in enhancing the performance and economic efficiency of their environmental assets. We analyse operational data, energy and resource consumption, availability, maintenance, throughput, quality, downtime and operating costs, in order to identify opportunities to increase reliability, efficiency and lifecycle value.

Track Record

Our track record reflects our experience in environmental engineering, infrastructure development and project delivery. The case studies below showcase a selection of our projects, demonstrating the challenges we have addressed, the solutions we have developed, and the technical and operational outcomes we have achieved in the fields of water, waste, energy, and related infrastructure.

Plastic Sorting Facility with Optical Sorting Technology

Waste Management | Infrastructure

Managed the end-to-end implementation of a state-of-the-art waste sorting facility in Western Mexico. Scope included facility design, machinery assembly, electromechanical and pneumatic installations, and local permitting. We engineered both operational and administrative procedures to ensure an efficient, fully compliant plant start-up.

Cooling System Procurement for Plastic Injection

Waste Management | Infrastructure

Executed technical procurement for an industrial manufacturer seeking optimal cooling systems for plastic injection equipment. We developed comprehensive terms of reference, launched a competitive tender, and managed technical consultations with suppliers, securing a scalable system optimized for future production line expansions.

Recycled Materials Automotive Mats Facility

Waste Management | Infrastructure

Managed the retrofit of an existing warehouse into a fully operational manufacturing plant for recycled automotive mats. Deliverables included layout engineering, electromechanical installations, machinery and cooling system integration, and the optimization of raw material logistics and forklift routing.

Rehabilitation of a Rubber Recycling Plant

Waste Management | Infrastructure

Facilitated the operational turnaround of a rubber recycling facility. We identified critical maintenance deficiencies, led contractor sourcing and selection, redesigned workflow areas to improve spatial efficiency, and secured vital permit renewals to guarantee regulatory compliance.

Waste Collection & Recovery Systems for Tool Manufacturer

Waste Management | Process Optimization

Partnered with one of Mexico’s leading tool manufacturers to overhaul waste handling procedures. We designed and deployed on-site separation systems for diverse plastic streams, integrating recovery and recycling workflows that enhanced both operational efficiency and environmental compliance.

Industrial Plastic Sorting & Commercialization Center

Waste Management | Recycling & Infrastructure

A major manufacturing facility in Northern Mexico generated high volumes of mixed, non-commercial plastic waste. We engineered and implemented a temporary on-site separation and sorting center, converting mixed waste into segregated, high-value commodities and establishing a new revenue stream for post-industrial plastics.
